"…positively refreshing…"
–New Haven Advocate

HARLAN BROTHERS grew up on the upper west side of the cultural melting pot known as New York City. Raised on classic Rock ‘n Roll, he was exposed to symphonic music, opera, and show music at an early age. Harlan got his first serious dose of world music as a teenager while traveling and performing in Senegal.

He began writing songs while attending the Berklee College of Music and quickly fell in love with Bossa Nova. He left Berklee to study with jazz guitarist Jimmy Ponder and later took lessons with Jack Wilkins and Peter Leitch. For the last 5 years, Harlan has performed and recorded with Sonido, the 12-piece Latin jazz & salsa group he co-founded with conguero Jeff Albert. He also performs with the 6-piece Latin combo, Dulcerito.

In recent years, Harlan united his love of mathematics and music by helping to forge the fledgling field of fractal music. He has lectured and published on the subject and enjoys composing music with fractal properties.

JERROD CATTEY holds his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from Western Connecticut State University. While attending WCSU he was the two-time recipient of the James Furman Award, which is presented to the student who best exemplifies the highest level of musical performance ability, scholastic standing, and contributions to the music department. He has studied drum set with Jeff Siegel, Dom Famularo, and Justin Foley, as well as classical percussion with Dave Smith and Brazilian percussion with José Mauricio de Faria and Daniel Oliveira.

He leads his own jazz trio and freelances with a variety of groups and solo artists in the Northeast. He has worked with some of New York’s finest musicians including Peter Einhorn, Don Miller, Dave Scott, and Matt Finley. He has also performed as the opening act for The Derek Trucks Band, Chick Corea, Joe Lovano, The Young Rascals, John Legend, Eric Benét, and Smokin’ Joe Kubek.

As well as being an in-demand performer, Jerrod is a well-established educator.  He teaches privately and has taught with the Enchanted Garden Conservatory as well as the WCSU Summer Band Camp. He is an active and contributing member of the Vic Firth Private Drum Teacher Program.
